Water lilies, of which there exist approximately 70 species, generally live in freshwater, temperate and tropical climates around the world.
They are rooted in soil in water bodies, with leaves and flowers that float on the water surface.
The beautiful flowers are divided into two primary categories: either hardy or tropical.
The hardy water lily can only bloom during the day, but tropical water lilies are able to bloom during the day or at night. Tropicals are also the only group that have blue-flowered plants.
