In a scoreless contest, deep into extra time, at 113 minutes, Germany substitute Mario Gotze landed a FIFA World Cup Finals Goal for the Ages taking his team to a 1-0 advantage.

His goal provided Germany with a Finals match victory over Argentina in a very close contest with missed opportunities by both sides during the standard 90 minutes of play.

A tough loss for Argentina, a team that had not trailed any opponent during the entire World Cup tournament.
Congratulations to Germany on their 4th World Cup trophy and their first since 1990.
And a special very well done to the 22-year old Gotze.
