Politicians Who Claim No One Is Above The Law

sanctuary_citiesIt has become quite popular for politicians to talk about no one being above the law. Yet, there are, more than likely, scores of elected officials who should be in prison if no one is truly above the law.

One of the biggest abuses occurring at present is the encouragement and harboring of illegal immigrants, which carries a penalty of five years in prison.

Title 8 of the United States Code, Section 1324(a)(1)(A)(iii), makes it an offense for “any person who — knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation.”

Yet here in the United States of America, there currently exist over 200 cities, counties and states calling themselves “Sanctuary,” meaning they are not only encouraging illegal persons to come and live there, but they are then harboring them, shielding them from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.).

SFO trashThe most horrible part of harboring illegal immigrants is that these cities and municipalities are using billions upon billions of American Citizen tax dollars to fund the schooling, medical care and more of these millions of illegal occupants.

And, being the most “progressive” of states, Governor Newsom in California, recently signed legislation making it “legal” for these illegal people to sit on state boards and commissions.

As the leader, California spends billions upon billions annually taking care of illegal immigrants yet cannot properly respond to disasters nor even keep the streets in their cities clean of debris and excrement. They ban plastic straws but, in many cities, there are hundreds, thousands of needles used by addicts littered upon public walkways. Their homeless population of American Citizens, including our Veterans, is absurd.

To top it off, there are those in Congress who have publicly announced what illegal immigrants should do to avoid being tracked down by I.C.E. personnel.

Some have even been so bold as to have their office staff fly to the border and personally escort illegal persons across our border.

sanctuary-citiesAs our U.S. Constitution states that one of the jobs of Congress is to protect our states, and as they have allowed (and encouraged) continuous illegal border crossings, they should, rightfully, be expelled from Congress for violating their Oath of Office to Support and Defend said Constitution.

Thus, the question remains unanswered.

How is it that “no one is above the law” when our elected representatives have been some of the worst law-breakers of all time, essentially robbing taxpayers of tens billions of dollars annually supporting illegal foreigners that they encourage to come to – and stay in – our land.

It is especially concerning when one considers that all of these actions listed here are and have been done in the open, in complete public view.

It almost seems as if these politicians are flaunting that they really are above the law. All the while claiming that no one is.

It is time for Americans to become armed with knowledge of our U.S. Constitution and our laws and hold public officials accountable. The easiest way to learn is with the award-winning In Search of Liberty Constitution movie. The U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Constitution

With the U.S. Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision to uphold, primarily, the constitutionality of the “Affordable Care Act,” also known as “Obamacare,” it has become abundantly clear that the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights are no longer the guiding lights of America.

How anyone can possibly conceive that a person’s decision not to purchase health insurance is governed by the “Commerce Clause” is, quite franly, beyond belief.

The “constitutionality” of being “taxed,” as Chief Justice Roberts wrote it, for not purchasing insurance is ludicrous.

This is one giant step toward taking away more rights of the individual, and of the states,  under the guise of our government safeguarding our “civil” or “individual” rights.

This action by the U.S. Supreme Court is not upholding the Constitution and Bill of Rights.  This decision is helping to tear them apart.

What is next?  Getting taxed for not exercising the right to vote?

This decision fully opens the taxation door to Congress for just about anythihng.

And, don’t forget to ask your duly-elected representative why, if the Affordable Care Act is such a good thing, they are excluded from taking part in what all US citizens must now do, but, instead, get to keep their own government-issued taxpayer-paid insurance benefits.

Atlantis – NASA STS 135 – The Final Space Shuttle Flight

The final flight of the three decade long Space Shuttle program, featuring STS 135 Atlantis, launched just before noon on Friday, July 8, 2011.

For many members of Main Street USA, especially those who grew up in the 1950’s and have watched the evolution of space travel and exploration, STS 135 marks the end of an era that may never be replaced. Below photo: Credit: NASA/Kim Shiflett.

This blogger was with a group of friends at Cape Kennedy for the launch of STS 86 Atlantis, on Sepember 25, 1997, and we all watched in awe as the boosters propelled the craft from the launch pad into space. It was truly a spectacle to behold.

However, it appears that those fortunate individuals witnessing STS 135 will be the last of the breed.

Hopefully, Congress, in its infinite wisdom, will rapdily bring back a space program that has contributed in many ways to America.

Until then: R.I.P. Space Shuttle.

There Must Be A 28th Amendment

While Main Street USA struggles to make ends meet, our elected representatives continue with their lifestyle, complete with full staff and expense accounts.

Curious that I have never heard of layoffs happening on Capitol Hill. Perhaps there have been during this economic downturn, and, if so, this American missed the notices.

But, more to the point, our leaders create rules and regulations that apply to everyone but themselves. The most blatant was when they voted to exempt themselves from last year’s healthcare reform bill.

If it is such a great piece of legislation, why are they not taking part with the rest of us?

Another why-on-Earth-do-they-get-this-perk is that staffers of Congress members and family are exempt from having to pay back student loans. That, quite frankly, is unjust and criminal.

More annoying, perhaps, is that those sitting in Washington DC can mandate a retirement age for all, except, of course, themselves.

To ensure that all citizens are on equal footing, there should be a 28th Amendment.

It should read (not my wording, it was received in an email forward):

Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States.

Unfortunately, as Congress would have to pass this, it more than likely will never come about.

Perhaps it could be an initiative voted on by the people to become law.

One can hope.
