Vince Flynn "American Assassin" (Mitch Rapp)

In the following video, bestselling author Vince Flynn reveals some of the backstory of Mitch Rapp, a fictional character who is America’s number one counter-terrorism operative appearing in 10 earlier novels, and his decision regarding writing the prequel.

Mitch Rapp’s official title is Special Assistant to the Director of the CIA on Counterterrorism. And special he is. Despite politics or red tape, Rapp does not let anything stand in his way of removing terrorists from the worldwide equation, though, at times, he does get slowed down. It has been announced that CBS Films will be taking American Assassin to the big screen. Should be excellent.

The Rapp series has developed an incredible following due to Flynn’s excellent storytelling abilities coupled with an outstanding protagonist, nicknamed Iron Man, along with a great supporting cast.

The Erosions of Freedom…National Defense Authorization act

It is hard to comprehend what those sitting at Capitol Hill are thinking, passing the recent National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

The bill passed the Senate by a 93-7 vote. The seven who voted against it were: Thomas Coburn (R-OK), Thomas Harken (D-IA), Mike Lee (R-UT), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Rand Paul (R-KY), Bernard Sanders (I-VT) and Ron Wyden (R-OR).

While President Obama attempted to distance himself from this very controversial bill, there was plenty of time before the drop-dead timeline to change key components of the legislation. It is also noted that the WH administration wanted a key freedom-killing component inserted in NDAA.

The president said, “The fact that I support this bill as a whole does not mean I agree with everything in it. I have signed this bill despite having serious reservations with certain provisions that regulate the detention, interrogation and prosecution of suspected terrorists.”

Nice try. You still signed it and that means that you, or any future president, may use the power to defy the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights that guarantee freedoms which the HDAA totally destroys.

The erosion of freedom, of pursuing life, liberty and happiness, just became less.

If what Senator Bernie Sanders stated is true, “The legislation could also give future presidents the authority to throw American citizens into prison for life without charges or a trial,” then that freedom became a whole lot less.

Senator Rand Paul points of many problematic issues with NDAA and the powers that come from that bill in this interview:

Any American may be detained without any rights if it is determined that the person may have by whatever means an association with “suspected” terrorists.

Thus, if a member of Main Street USA were to read something on the Internet about terrorists, even though the person is totally against them and that which they stand for, that citizen may be indefinitely detained because there exists an “association” – the person read about the terrorists.

Many may argue that it would never come to this. However, there are no guarantees.

Make no mistake, more and more American citizen freedoms are being decimated in the name of fighting terrorists.

Exactly One Decade Later, 9/11 Tribute – Sept 11, 2001 8:46am Eastern Time

Ten years ago, today, to the minute, America was attacked by jetliners in the heart of New York City and the Pentagon, while another attempt was thwarted in Pennsylvania, perhaps on its way to the U.S. Capitol building.

American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center at 8:46am Eastern time, followed 16 minutes later by United Airlines Flight 175 into the South Tower. The Pentagon was struck by American Airlines Flight 77 while United Airlines Flight 93 was forced to crash short of its target in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, when passengers stormed the cockpit.

There is no need to cover the entire story again as most people, if not all, know it and, more than likely remember exactly what they were doing when they first heard the news.

This first image is of the scene after the two planes struck the two World Trade Center towers and was taken by Wally Gobetz from Jersey City, New Jersey.

The next image was captured six days later showing the area known as Ground Zero by U.S. Navy Chief Photographer’s Mate Eric J. Tilford (released).

The next image of the Pentagon was taken by U.S. Navy Photographer’s Mate 2nd Class Lisa Borges.

Video footage showing the strike of the second tower have not been posted as they are readily available on YouTube.

Additionally, numerous theories exist regarding the exact events that transpired that fateful day and no matter which one is believed (or not) there were 2,973 people who perished, most needlesly and others attempting to help.

This post is simply a tribute to all of the innocent people who lost their lives and those who gave their lives in rescue attempts and their families.

Long may she wave
